The Oxfordshire Economic Observatory: promoting the understanding of the Oxfordshire knowledge-economy

The Oxfordshire Economic Observatory is a joint venture between the School of Geography at the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, University of Oxford and the School of Planning, Oxford Brookes University.

Prof. Helen Lawton Smith (Director of Research)

Prof. Helen Lawton Smith is a Senior Visiting Research Associate in the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford and Professor of Entrepreneurship and Assistant Dean at the School of Management and Organisational Psychology, Birkbeck, London University. Her research interests are in the geography and management of innovation. She is the author of two books on technology transfer, the editor of seven books and has published over sixty journal articles and book chapters.

Professor John Glasson (Director)

Prof. John Glasson is Associate Dean (Research and Consultancy), Co-Director of OISD and Director of Research OISD:IAU at Oxford Brookes University. His research interests include regional development and planning, environmental impact assessment, SEA/sustainability appraisal, economic analysis, and tourism impacts analysis, with a focus on the socio-economic impacts of major projects, sustainability appraisal, evolving regional planning and governance, and energy and tourism impact studies.

Professor James Simmie (Director)

Prof. James Simmie is Professor of Innovation and Urban Competitiveness in the School of Planning at Oxford Brookes University. His research interests include urban and regional economics, urban sociology, innovation, evolutionary economics and the competitiveness of city regions in Europe, North America and the Far East.
